Expansion

This project was a fast-track electrical infrastructure expansion for a high-density Bitcoin mining data center. To accommodate incoming hardware shipments on an accelerated schedule, McGee Electrical Services worked directly with the client to engineer and execute a phased power expansion.

To minimize long lead times and significantly reduce equipment capital costs, the design utilized dual 3,000A 480V electrical services rather than a single 6,000A service. Each service feeds two server rooms, powering high-density computer racks, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and multiple Liebert precision cooling systems to support continuous high-capacity operation.

Job Features

  • Dual 3,000A 480V service installations executed in two fast-track phases.
  • Strategic dual-service architecture designed to cut equipment lead times and lower material costs.
  • High-density Power Distribution Unit (PDU) integration and overhead cable tray distribution networks.
  • Dedicated power feeds for multiple Liebert CRAC/HVAC units ensuring critical environmental cooling.
  • Direct contractor-to-client engineering coordination for rapid deployment.
